Can I order one of your knitting patterns styles as a knit?
Yes! I can knit you up one of the designs that is currently only available as a pattern. Fill in my custom order form, letting me know what style you want, size, county, and if you think you will want any changes like lengthening and I’ll come back to you with a quote within 7 working days
How do I care for my knit?
Hand knits take a bit of extra special care but below should cover all the main points. If you ever have any questions feel free to email me at hello@anxiousgirlknits.com.
Cleaning
Try avoid washing hand knits when you can. You can spot clean with a damp cloth and cool or warm water and pat the area clean. If it’s wool it is naturally odour resistant so it doesn’t need as much washing as other fibres.
If you do need to wash and you have a tape measure, lay it on a flat surface and take some measurements first: body width, body length, sleeve width and sleeve length. These will be helpful when you reshape to dry. Do NOT machine wash or dry. Hand wash with some wool/delicate detergent in cool/luke warm water. Gently squeeze the water out, do not wring/twist the knit this can damage and misshapen the knit. You can roll up in a towel like a burrito to help get some of the water out. Then to dry, Lay her on a flat surface and reshape to your measurements from earlier and leave to dry.
Storage
Folding and storing in a drawer/shelf/box is the best place to store your hand knits. Try to avoid hanging your knits, this can misshape the knit and cause holes.
Will my knit pill?
Pilling is a natural occurrence especially with wool or unspun yarns. Pilling is where loose fibres shed or form balls when the knitwear is worn. This is down to friction and is most common in areas like the underarm where the sleeve rubs against the body.
The best way to look after your knitwear is using a knitwear comb. Comb the area where you have pilling and it will smooth out the area.
What is made to order and how long will my order take?
Most of our knits are made to order, which means I only knit what is needed. No overproduction, no excess stock, no waste. So my pieces are made specially for you! This does mean it takes a little longer. Usually your order should be ready within 4-6 weeks, however during busy times this may move out, but don’t worry I’ll keep you in the loop. If you need it for a certain date please contact me before purchasing at hello@anxiousgirlknits.com so I can make sure I can fit you in.
Where are your products produced?
Currently I’m a one woman band, which means your knits will be made with my own two hands from the comfort of my sofa in London, England!
